This festival takes place on the beach of Santa Maria, in the month of September. As is typical of Cape Verde, the exact date is not announced until several weeks beforehand. Also, the program is usually announced only about a week before the event.

Do not be surprised if the beach is completely transformed and many small stalls are rented out to anyone who wants to sell food and drinks. They even play and make their own “music” during festival concerts.
You can buy cold beers, local drinks, or specialties like ponche, grogue and moreia. Even the upscale bars in town will set up shop on the beach for the weekend.

Everywhere you can hear the eclectic music of Cape Verde, West Africa, and Brazil, which is very popular. Everyone comes to enjoy the festival, even whole families come with tents to spend the weekend.
